Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify an arrangement of the ignition device and improve a reliability in operation of the ignition device by a method wherein a timer circuit for controlling an ignition spark time is stored in the ignition circuit.
CONSTITUTION: When a power supplying switch 2 is turned on, the charging/discharging capacitor 5 is charged. At the same time, when the capacitor 12 is charged and the voltage of the capacitor becomes more than the desired value, n-gate bidirectional switch 9 is turned on, an electric current is flowed in the gate resistor 8 through a time constant capacitor 10 for a timer to generate the pulse. Thyristor 7 is turned on by this pulse and at the scondary winding of a high voltage generating transformer 6 is generated an ignition high voltage pulse. The number of generations of the high voltage pulse may freely be set by selecting a time constant of the resistor 11 and the capacitor 12. Ignition spark time may be set by a time constant capacitor 10 for the timer.
