PURPOSE: To simplify an arrangement of the ignition device and improve its reliability by a method wherein an ignition time control device is formed integral with the ignition device.
CONSTITUTION: When a switch 2 is tutned on, the changing/discharging capacitor 7 is charged, a bidirectional two-terminal thyristor 6 is turned on, and a charged electric load of the charging/discharging capacitor 7 is discharged via the primary winding of the high voltage generating transformer 8, a high voltage is generated at the secondary winding of the high voltage generating transformer 8, a spark is generated at a spark gap 16 to be connected to the secondary winding and then ignited. DC voltage is applied from the high voltage generating circuit to the time constant resistor 13 for a timer of a time constant circuit and a time constant capacitor 14 for a timer, and the capacitor 14 is gradually charged. When the voltage is reached up to a desired value, n-gate bidirectional switch 12 is turned on. Output voltage and output current from the power supply transformer 4' are controlled by a switching operation of n-gate bidirectional switch 12 and at the same time an ignition is to be performed for a specified period of time.
