Abstract
PURPOSE: To keep the developing operation free from effects of humidity, obtain picture images of excellent continuous tone, simplify the structure of the apparatus used, and increase the developing efficiency, by using insulating magnetic toner haveing frictional charging characteristic only.
CONSTITUTION: On the basis of the total weight of the resin, 100 weight parts of thermoplastic resin containing styrene content preferably by more than 25%, about 20 to 70 weight parts of fine granular ferro-magnetic body of which mean grain size is about 0.1 to 1μ, about 1 to 10 weight parts of carbon black preferably oxidized as coloring agent, and, if necessary, a charge control agent such as dye having frictional charging property are uneformly mixed and dispersed, then heated and kneaded. The mixture is crushed and classified to a mean grain size of about 5 to 20μ, and then, desirably, atomized into hot air, so that toner particles are formed into globules. Thereby, the unfixed toner image obtained by developing may be excellently transferred even by an electrostatic transfer method.
