Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the title compound useful as a herbicide and a fungicide, economically, in high yield, from a malonic acid diester which can be easily obtained by reacting an organophosphorus compound with a malonic acid derivative.
CONSTITUTION: A malonic acid diester of formula I is prepared by reacting a compound II (R is halogenoethyl or alkyl; X is halogen) or III with a compound IV (R1,2 are alkoxycarbonyl or CN) in a polar solvent in the presence of an alkali such as metal alcoholate. The compound I or its hydrolyzate is halogenized, decomposed with an acid, and reacted with ammonia to afford the title compound of formula V.
