Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain photoconductive powder with superior voltage-withstand characteristics and photosensitivity for electrophotographic copying by granulating zinc oxide powder, with an insulating binder, blended with oxide of Co, Bi or the like.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture of zinc oxide powder with a grain size of about 0.5μ or less and cobalt oxide powder with a gain size of about 0.5μ or less in a ratio of about 10:1 by wt. is calcined at about 700°C and pulverized. A dye sensitizer such as Rose Bengale is then added to the resulting powder and dispersed in xylene solvent together with silicone varnish. This dispersion is spray-dried to obtain photoconductive toner with a grain size of about 10W15μ. In place of the cobalt oxide, oxide of Bi, Pb, Ba, a rare earth element or the like may be used.
