Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce an image forming member for electrophotography high in sensitivity, permitting repeated use, and excelling in transfer efficincy, by providing a photoconductive layer formed by dispersing amorphous silicon powder into the binding agent as photoconductive material on a supporting body.
CONSTITUTION: By using a gas discharge device, glow discharge is applied to material gas such as SiH4, Si2H6, and at the same time the dark resistance and photoelectric gain are adjusted by containing H of about 10 to 40 atomic%, and the amorphous silicon (a-Si) powder formed by controlling the conductive type containing impurities is used as photoconductive material. Binding material (such as phenol resin and silicone vernish) of which volume intrinsic resistance is about 1012Ωcm or more and breakdown strength is about 10KV/mm or more is added to said a-Si powder by about 5 to 60 wt% (preferably 10 to 40 wt%), and solvent such as methylene chloride and chloroform, etc. is further added. The mixture is mixed and dispersed, which is spread on a supporting body and dried to form a photoconductive layer of a-Si base of about 10 to 80μ to be used as an image forming member.
