An alternating voltage is developed in the auxiliary generator coil 4, a magnetic flux is generated in a fixed electrode of the salient-pole rotor 5. Next when the rotation position of the rotor 5 is manually changed a little, the current that flows in the main generator coil 3 is changed. The quality of the engine generator 1 is decided by measuring the said current change by means of the ammeter 27 of the testing unit 21.
