Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of a warp in a positive electrode and improve the performance of a battery, by annealing a metallic net member prior to pressure- molding said member with a positive electrode mixture into an integral assembly. CONSTITUTION:A metallic net member 2, which has previously been subjected to an annealing treatment, and a positive electrode mixture 3 are integrally pressure- molded into a positive electrode 1, which is then assembled in a battery. Since this construction can prevent the occurrence of a warp in the positive electrode 1, a battery of a good performance is obtained. The annealing treatment of said metallic net member 2 is carred out by first red-heating a metallic net, for example, to a temperature of 700-1,000 deg.C and for about 1-20 minutes and then slowly cooling it down. From the thus-annealed metallic net member, any electrically poor conductive substances such as metal oxides, metal carbides and the like occurred on the surface of the member are preferably removed and then it is pressure-molded with said positive electrode mixture.
