Abstract
PURPOSE: To accelerate propagation of microbes even in the cobble layers on waste water surface and obviate clogging by letting waste water or the like ascend in the capillary voids possessed by the cobble-form material filled in a vessel and letting microbes live.
CONSTITUTION: The cobble-form material 3 having capillary voids such as lapilli peaks at its central part and protrudes above the side wall 2 of the water vesssel composed of the bottom wall 1 and side wall 2. A netting 4 is put on the top of the cobble-form material 3 and is covered thereon with soil. Since this is so designed that waste water ascends like the arrow A along the capillary voids of the cobble- form material 3 and that when the capillary water becomes insufficient the waste water is supplied at all times from below, the conditions under which microbes are liable to live are established. The anaerobes live in the capillary voids in the cobble-form material 3. In the soil on the cobble-form material 3, purification by plant roots, soil small animals, etc. takes place.
