Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A 3-chloro-4-(substituted phenyl)-1-methoxyacetylpyrrole of formula I (X is Cl or N2O).
EXAMPLE: 3-Chloro-4-(2,3,-dichlorophenyl)-1-methoxyacetylpyrrole.
USE: A fungicide having a great activity against various plant pathogenic fungi, e.g. gray mold, of vegetables, stable to light, effective against fungi, e.g. trichophytes, parasitic on the human body, and showing improved lasting effects.
PROCESS: A pyrrole derivative of formula II (Ar is H, alkali metal or reactive group, e.g. silyl) is reacted with an acylating agent, e.g. a methoxyacetyl halide, acid anhydride or 1-methoxyacetylimidazole, in an organic solvent to give the compound of formula I.
