Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:3-Cyano-4-(substituted phenyl)-1-formyl (or methoxy-acetyl)pyrroles shown by the formula I (X is Cl or H; R is formly or methoxyacetyl).
EXAMPLE: 3-Cyano-4-(2,3-dichlorophenyl)-1-methoxyacetylpyrrole.
USE: A fungicide. Having high antifungal activity on various kinds of vegetable pathcgenic fungi, it is stable to light rays, exhibiting improved prolonged effect, and having antifungal action on fungi living in the human body, e.g., ones belonging to the genus Trichophyton, etc.
PROCESS: A pyrrole derivatice shown by the formula II its reactive derivative is reacted with a formylating agent or a methoxyacetylating agent to give a compound shown by the formula I.
