Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase average printing speed by driving a carriage mechanism continuously with a constant speed which corresponds to the maximum period of time required to pick up a printing letter from given printing data.
CONSTITUTION: Input data for a printer are given to an input data buffer 30. Once the input data are stored in the buffer, they are transfered to an input data judging unit 31 where the given data are analized whether they are data for printing or data for spacing, backspacing, tab, carriage turn, or line field. A selective distance computing unit 32 picks up a data out of a series of data to determine the maximum period of time, and sends that signal to a carriage feeding speed controller 33 which continuously drives a carriage feeding motor 21 in accordance with the speed sent by the signal.
