Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the concentration of stress of a rectangular tank when the tank containing an internal assembly is hung up and to raise the strength of the tank, by bending the tops of side plates of the tank outward by an angle of 90° and welding triangular reinforcing plates to the four corners of the tops of the side plates.
CONSTITUTION: The top corners of two side plates 31A, 31B are notched at an angle of 45°. The tops of these plates are bent outward by an angle of 90° centering the bottoms of the notches. Each side plate is bent by an angle of 90° centering the intermediate notch, thereby making two sides for the box-shaped tank. Both the side plates 31A, 31B are then welded to each other to the form of the box. The triangular recinforcing plates 34 are thereafter welded on the four top corners of the box to raise its strength. The box is welded on a bottom plate 13, thus making the tank 35. The tank 35 is not deformed when it is hung up. It is not necessary to provide reinforming plates when panel radiators are mounted.
