Abstract
PURPOSE:To shape the mold in a short time, and to prevent the generation of collapse of the mold at rapping operation, by filling the precooled molding sand into the pattern while applying moisture to the surface of the sand particles. CONSTITUTION:The first valve hole 7 is closed by the valve body 9, and twice or more times of the amount of molding sand S for one process are charged into the primary cooling room 2. The second valve hole 11 is closed by the valve body 12, and the cooling medium R is horizontally, radially injected from the cooling nozzle 14. The cooling medium R generates the cold gas which is then injected from the gas injection nozzle 6 into the cooling room 2, and precools the sand S. Next, by lifting the valve body 9, the sand S falls down into the secondary cooling room 3, and is formed into a cylindrical thin curtain by the guide cone 13, and is cooled so far as its core by the cooling medium R. After the desired amount of the sand S is accumulated in the room 3, the supply of the colling medium R is stopped, the valve hole 7 is closed, and the valve hole 11 is opened. The moisture W being injected just under the guide cone 18 of the moisture supply room 4, is applied to the surface of the sand S; after that, the sand S is filled into the pattern through the sand discharge port 17. At this point, the moisture on the surface of the sand S freezes, so that the sand S automatically solidifies within the pattern.
