Abstract
PURPOSE: To maintain the microbial content in the fluid ized bed at a high level by taking out the solid particles in which microbes have propagated from the upper part of the fluid ized bed, stripping off the microbes then returning the solid particles in the fluid ized bed and yet increasing or decreasing the quantities of the solid particles according to the measured microbe adhesion rate value on the fluid ized bed.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of performing biological treatment while flowing the treating water upward to let particles flow on the fluid ized bed composed of solid particles adhered with microbes, the particles in which microbes have propagated are taken out from the upper part of the fluid ized bed. After the microbes are stripped, the solid particles are returned into the bluid ized bed. Futher the microbe adhesion rate in the upper part of the fluid ized bed is measured and the solid particle quantities in the bed are increased or decreased so that the measeured value thereof conforms to the following conditions. Namely, the quantities are increased when the microbe adhesion rate exceeds the upper limit of the formula I (where d is mean particle size mm, u the superficial velocity in a tower of the treating water m/hr) and are decreased when it becomes lower than the lower limit.
