Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform coloring excellent in the hue, bonding property and weather resistance on aluminium or aluminium alloy, by anodic-oxidizing the aluminium or aluminium alloy at a high density of electrical current and electrolytically coloring it.
CONSTITUTION: When aluminium or aluminium alloy is treated at a high density of electrical current (preferably 3 to 5 A/dm2) in a bath containing 200 to 250 g/l of sulfuric acid and 2 to 10g/l of aluminium ions and having a temperature of 20 to 25°C for 10 minutes, a coating film of 9.6 to 16μ in thickness is produced on the aluminium or aluminium alloy. The aluminium or aluminium alloy is then set as a cathode in an aqueous solution of metal salt. Direct current and alternating current are alternately supplied through the cathode so that the coating film is colored.
