Abstract
PURPOSE: To separate waste water into a waste water containing high concentrations of SiO2 and a waste water containing high concentrations of COD components as well as remove COD components effectivey from ion exchange resin regeneration waste water discharged from a pure water-manufacturing process using ion exchange resins.
CONSTITUTION: In the manufacture of pure water in which original water is passed in order through the cation exchange tower K, the decarbonation tower D, and the anion exchange tower A. The anion exchange tower A is made up of the first tower A1 packed with a weakly basic anion exchange resin or a neutral and basic anior exchange resin and the second tower A2 packed with a strongly basic anion exchange resin. For regeneration, the K tower is regenerated by HCl or H2SO4 and the regeneration waste water is introduced into the first waste water tank W, and also the A2 tower is regenerated by NaOH and the regeneration waste water is introduced into the tank W for neutralization. On the other hand, the A1 tower is regenerated by NaOH and the regeneration waste water is introduced into the tank W2 where its pH is regulated and then sent to the active carbon adsorption tower AC for treatment.
