Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the wrinkling of a printed pattern carrier sheet, by providing an air ejection pipe over a thin film dissolving liquid storage vessel to which the carrier sheet is conveyed and by controlling the direction of and quantity of ejected air from the pipe.
CONSTITUTION: A desired ink pattern is formed on a thin film of a substance such as polyvinyl alcohol on the pattern carrier sheet S. When the sheet is passed through a coating unit 12, the ink pattern is activated so that it can be printed. The sheet S is then moved along a turn-over roll 22 so that the pattern side of the sheet is located face-up. The sheet is thereafter guided to the surface of a dissolving liquid 16 (usually water) along a suction roll 24 and a guide member 28. The sheet S is swollen and softened by the dissolving liquid. A force is applied to the sheet by the air ejected from the air ejection pipe 44 to extend the sheet outward in the direction of its width. Therefore, the wrinkle of the sheet is eliminated. When the sheet is in a position C, a copied piece 32 is moved down into contact with the upper side of the sheet S so that the pattern is transferred onto the surface of the copied piece 32 by the liquid pressure.
