Abstract

PURPOSE: To keep the terminal voltage of a self-excited induction machine constant, by regulating the turn-on angle of one of a first and a second power converters when controlling the terminal voltage of the induction machine through the power converters and a phase advancing capacitor.
CONSTITUTION: The self-excited operation of the induction machine 6 is effected by a power source 1, the power converters 2, 4 and the capacitor 5. When the load upon the induction machine 6 decreases and the advanced reactive power of the capacitor 5 becomes excessive, the terminal voltage of the machine 6 rises. The rise in the terminal voltage is detected by a detector 11 which compares the signal of a setting unit 12 with that of a transformer 7 which detects the terminal voltage of the induction machine 6. A comparator supplies a turn-on angle signal to a phase control circuit 8 to increase the delayed reactive power of the second power converter 4 to absorb the excess in the reactive power of the capacitor 5. The terminal voltage of the induction machine is thus kept constant.
