Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the title compound useful as a modifying raw material of comonomers, etc., and a synthetic raw matrial of natural compound, by reducing a benzene derivative with metallic sodium and an alcohol using a specific alkyl-2- imidazolidinone as a solvent.
CONSTITUTION: 1,4-Cyclohexadiene or its derivative of formula III (R1W3 are H, 1W5C alkyl, etc.) is prepared, easily, in high yield, in an industrial scale, without using electrolytic reduction, lead tetraacetate, liquid ammonia, etc., under normal temperature and pressure, by reducing a benzene derivative II with metallic sodium and an aliphatic alcohol, in a solvent comprising an alkyl-2-imidazolidinone compound I (R4,5 are 1W3C alkyl; R6 is H, methyl, etc.).
