Abstract

PURPOSE: To convert a material which is not utilized hitherto as food material into an edible material, by grinding the material with a colloid mill in the presence of a specific amount of water, and forming the paste to fibers or granules.
CONSTITUTION: A material of animal- or vegetable-origin which is not utilized as a food material, e.g. hide, bone or internals of an animal, roots of herbs, insects, reptiles, etc., is adjusted to a water-content of 10W65%, and ground with a grinding-type colloid mill. The raw material is ground while passing through the small gap between the rotary discs of the colloid mill, and at the same time, heated by the centrifugal force, compression force, shearing force, etc. and formed to fibrous or granular form. By the proper combination of the raw materials, various new foods having a variety of forms, characteristics and textures can be manufactured.
