Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible detection of paper clogging over the entire part of the copying paper conveying path by providing a timer function as continuation action between the timer which is started befoer the start of scanning and the timer which is started upon starting of backward movement to the scanning movement itself for exposure of images.

CONSTITUTION: The first detecting switches 27, 28 which detect the leading and trailing ends of copying paper are provided between the paper feed rollers 18, 19 and timing roller 20 of the copying paper conveying path and the second detecting switch 29 is provided just before the discharge roller 25. The leading end of the copying paper is detected with the first detcting switches 27, 28, by which the original platen 1 is made scan-movable and the first timer is reset. When paper clogging occurs in the paper feed part, the switch 27 does not operate and the first timer is not reset and times up to display paper clogging and stop the entire function of the copying machine. When the switches 27, 28 do not detect the trailing end of the copying paper, the original platen 1 is moved by the scan-movement limit distance and is then moved backward by operating an overrun switch 31. At the same time, the third timer is started and as it times up, the fourth timer is started and as it times up, the paper clogging is made detectable.
