Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the constitution of a collation device by making a collation of code signals by equalizing all directions of a composite magnetic field of a set-bias magnetic field whose direction is previously determined by a code signal and the signal magnetic field of a magnetic card to be dollated.
CONSTITUTION: Magnetic field direction detecting element 5 is formed of ferromagnetic metal-film magnetic resistance element 3 with element parts 1 and 2 formed so that current directions are longitudinal and lateral respectively. A plural number of these elements 5 are arranged on substrate 6 to form magnetic detection plate 7, and on collation card 8 provided on one surface of detection plate 7, magnetic field generating part 11 is formed which generates a set-bias magnetic field at an angle of 45° longitudinally or laterally on respective element 5 by determining the direction corresponding to code signals. On elements 5 of magnetic card 12 coming in contact with the other surface of detection plate 7, signal magnetic generating parts 15 are formed which provides a magnetic field at an angle of 90° against each bias magnetic field and after it is superposed on detection plate 7, the longitudinal or lateral direction of elements 5 is made to agree with all directions of generating parts 11, thereby making collation of code signals.
