Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the title composition giving a smooth and continuous coating film having uniform thickness, by reacting an alcohol and/or a polyhydric alcohol ether with a reaction product of a carboxylic acid with a titanium halide.
CONSTITUTION: A composition composed of (A) a solution obtained by reacting (a) a carboxylic acid such as glacial acetic acid, etc., (b) a titanium halide such as titanium tetrachloride, etc., and (c) an alcohol such as methanol and/or an ether of a polyhydric alcohol such as methyl cellosolve, and if necessary, (B) a glass-forming agent such as phosphorus pentoxide, etc., and/or (C) an organic film-forming agent such as polyvinyl acetal, etc.
USE: Coating of glass, ceramic, semiconductor, metal, etc., with a titanium-based glass film.
