Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the wearing of side housing by applying a surface treatment on the side housing of rotary engine and by using a hard steel as a side seal.
CONSTITUTION: The side seal 5 and the oil seal 6 are arranged at a portion where the side housing 1 of the rotor 4 is in contact in a sliding manner. Also, a 1.0 micron or more thick Fe-C-N compound layer is formed on the inside surface of the side housing 1 by a soft-nitriding treatment, and also the side seal 5 is made up of a steel of a hardness (Hv) of 150 to 800.
