NEW MATERIAL:A spiro compound of formula I [ring A is benzene or naphthalene ring which is substituted with (substituted) OH, acyl sulfamoyl, or (substituted) amino]
EXAMPLE: 5-Benzyloxyspiro [benzo[b]furan-2(3H),1'-cyclopropan]-3-one.
USE: Anti-ulcer agent. Drugs such as antiphlogistics, analgesics, etc., or their intermediates.
PROCESS: The objective compound I is prepared by the decarbonation reaction of a compound II [e.g. 5-benzyloxy-4',5'-dihydrospiro[benzo[b]furan-2(3H),3'(2'H)- furan]-2',3-dione] pref. in the presence of a catalyst such as metal halide, etc., e.g. NaCl, etc.
