Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (R1 is sulfamoyl, carbamoyl group, etc.; R2 is H, alkyl, halogen, cyano, alkylsulfonyl group, etc.; R3 is H or alkyl group; R4 is H, OH, halogen, alkyl group, etc.; m is 0 or an integer 1W3; X is methylene group, O, or S).
EXAMPLE: 5-{1-Hydrosy-2-[2-(4-hydroxymethyl-2-methoxyphenoxy) ethylamino] ethyl}-2-methylbenzenesulfonamide.
USE: Hypotensive agents, treatments for angina pectoris and arrhythmia, having both the α-and β-adrenalin blocking actions.
PROCESS: A compound of formula II or III is reacted with an amine of formula IV to give the objective compound of formula I. Alternatively, an aminoketone of formula V is reduced. The raw material includes a novel compound, e.g. 5- (bromo)-acetyl-2-methylbenzenesulfonamide.
