Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to measure accurately and easily the inclination of a tank bottom face under a state where liquid is filled up in the tank, by connecting lower edges of two hard pipes, which are provided with pressure gauges at lower ends, mutually and using a level meter obtained by enclosing mercury in these pipes.
CONSTITUTION: Two hard pipes 2 and 2' at distance L are provided with pressure gauges 3 and 3' at lower ends, and respective upper and lower edges of hard pipes 2 and 2' are linked by linking pipes 4 and 4', and mercury 5 is enclosed while leaving space inside them, thereby forming level meter 1. This level meter is sunk in tank 10 filled up with liquid and is moved along tank bottom face 11, and the head pressure of mercury 5 in distance L between hard pipes 2 and 2' is measured. When level meter 1 is positioned on the inclined bottom face, the liquid surface of mercury 5 is inclined in one direction, and a head is generated betweenhard pipes 2 and 2'. This head pressure is measured by pressure gauges 3 and 3', and the difference is detected through lead wire 7, which is led to the outside of tank 10, by pressure measuring equipments 8 and 8', thereby obtaining the inclination in distance L of tank bottom face 11. Thus, the inclination of the tank bottom face can be obtained.
