Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare coenzyme Q10 useful as a remedy for the congestive heart, by the use of microorganisms belonging to Geotricum genus.
CONSTITUTION: Microorganisms belonging to Geotricum genus, and capable of producing coenzyme Q10, e.g. Geotricum sp. ML-2 (FERM-P No.4493) are cultured in a liquid medium under aeration and agitation, at 20W40°C, esp. 25W33°C, and pH 3.0W7.5, esp. 4.0W6.0. The coenzyme Q10 can be separated from the cells, by extracting with an organic solvent, or by treating the suspension of the cells with an acid or alkali, and extracting the suspension with a hydrophobic solution.
