Abstract
PURPOSE: To pepare coenzyme Q9 useful as pharmaceuticals, by culturing bacteria belonging to Pseudomonas genus in a medium containing isopentenol and/or geraniol.
CONSTITUTION: Bacteria belonging to Pseudomonas genus and capable of producing coenzyme Q9, e.g. Pseudomonas schuylkilliensis IAM1092, IAM1126, etc. are cultured in a medium at pH 4W8 and 25W35°C for 10W50 hours with aeration and agitation. The medium is added with isopentenol and/or geraniol in one or several times so as to give the final concentration of 1×10-5W5×10-3 mole/1, pref. 5× 10-5W5×10-4 mole/1. The coenzyme Q9 is separated from the cultured product by conventional solvent extraction, etc.
