Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the magnetic orientation property by mixing the specified quaternary ammonium chloride as the antistatic agent along with the fixed amount of the alcohol phosphate into the magnetic coating material.
CONSTITUTION: The magnetic recording medium is made by coating the magnetic coating material featuring the following composition onto the substrate of polyester or the like. The vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate polymer plasticized via the nitrile butadiene rubber is used as the binder for the magnetic coating material. In this case, the quaternary ammonium chloride shown in Eq. I is mixed as the antistatic agent along with the alcohol phosphate of 50wt% or less mixed to the full active agent quantity. As a result, a magnetic recording medium can be obtained with an extremely short half-life as well as an extremely high orientation property.
