Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the magnetic orientation property as well as the head adhesion performance and the film intensity by coating previously the surface of the magnetic powder with the fixed surface active agent and then using the magnetic coating material mixed with the polyurethane content binder.
CONSTITUTION: The magnetic recording medium is made by applying the magnetic coating material featuring the following composition to the substrate of polyester or the like. The magnetic powder is processed with the mixture of the RCOOH.M- type (R: alkyl or alkylphenyl group; M: amine) surface active agent of not more than 50% of the total surface active agent and the alkylether-type surface active agent. And the surface of the magnetic powder is covered with the active agent. This magnetic powder is then mixed with the vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate polymer plasticized by the polyurethane resin of not more than 40% of the total binder amount along with application of the magnetic coating material.
