Abstract
PURPOSE: To separate fine powder having specific range of size, from granules, effectively, by countercurrently contacting the granules falling in a separation chamber with gas blasted from the bottom of the chamber.
CONSTITUTION: Granules of a synthetic polymer is charged into a hopper 2 through a line 1, and supplied continuously to the separation chamber 5 under the hopper, through a rotary valve 3. the separation chamber is furnished with a double-cone separator 5 at the center and a spray nozzle 6 having a head 6' with a number of perforations, at the bottom of the chamber. The granules falling in the chamber collide with the separator 5 and scattered, and the fine powders attached to or mixed with the granule are separated. The fine powders are carried by the ascending flow of gas, accelerated by vacuum, and collected with a collector 10.
