Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform descaling with good efficiency by subjecting the hot rolled steel plate to skin pass rolling with dull-form rolls having the specific maximum surface roughness prior to its pickling process then subjecting the same to pickling. CONSTITUTION:The hot rolled steel plate in coil form is uncoiled by an un-coiler 1 and is coiled to an up-coiler 3 by passing through a pickling vessel 2. A skin-pass rolling mill 4 is provided on the inlet side of the pickling vessel 2 to perform scale breaking. The scale breaking is accomplished by using dull-form rolls of 5 to 35mu in maximum surface roughness Hmax, selecting the total draft of skin-pass rolling at 0.5 to 2% and subjecting the skin-pass rolling of 1 or plural passes to the hot rolled steel plate. Thereby, numerous cracks are produced in the scale formed on the steel plate surface for rolling, the percolation of acids made easier and the efficient and effective descaling made possible.
