Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate solids from liquid with high efficiency by giving velocity energy and inertia to liquid by letting liquid to be treated fall spirally into an annular space between outer wall and inner wall from the outside.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid to be treated sent under pressure to the inlet 15 is changed into a liquid having not pressure energy but velocity energy because the inlet 15 gradually becomes nallower and enters the annular space 13 of the head block 10, whereupon the liquid to be treated is given an inertia by which it is directed to fall down along the inside wall of the body 9 because the inlet path 14 has an opening under the water level. The inertia lowers the consumption of energy by reducing collision resistance encountered in the introduction of liquid to be treated containing foreign matters having downward movement and also causes a strong separating action to take palce on foreign matters concentrating along the inner wall of the body 9 and discharges the foreign matters from the opening 16.
