Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent stack rain that breaks contact between condensate water and gas, by providing flow deflecting plates at a position of a smokestack or a flue located downwardly of the middle of the height thereof and a drain way on the inner wall surface of the smokestack near the portion where the smokestack and the flue are connected, and thereby separating gas accompanying liquid drips.
CONSTITUTION: Flow of exhaust gas carried through a smokestack is directed upward after it is once directed downward by the function of flow deflecting plates 4 and, if necessary, impinged onto the inner wall surface of the smokestack at the front. With such an arrangement, liquid drips generated in a flue are carried to flow deflecting plates 4 on the exhaust-gas stream, which is directed toward the bottom of the smokestack by the flow deflecting plates 4 and then directed upward to the top of the smokestack. Thus, the exhaust gas is discharged to the outside from the top of the smokestack. At the portion where the exhaust-gas flow is deflected, liquid drips contained in the exhaust gas can be separated from the exhaust- gas stream by the function of its own gravity. Further, when the exhaust-gas flow impinges onto the flow deflecting plates, liquid drips stick to their surface and can be recovered as condensate.
