Abstract

PURPOSE:To calibrate the surface electrometer easily, by providing an output means which generates the same voltage as the surface potential detecting means, and adjusting the detecting gain by using this output means. CONSTITUTION:The output of the measuring electrode of a surface electrometer 6 which detects the surface potential on the drum 47 as AC output and converts into DC voltage is transmitted as source current of field effect transistor Tr1, and is inputted into the inverting input terminal of an operational amplifier Q1 through capacitor C1 and resistor R3. Being amplified by the operational amplifier Q1 and passed through an operational amplifier Q2, etc., DC output voltage corresponding to the surface potential of the frum is delivered to the output terminal P7. An aluminum foil 101 is fitted to the surface of the drum 47 as the potential holding means, and a voltage is applied through the output terminal P9 of the inverter circuit. If the applied voltage is changed due to some reason, the output voltage at the terminal P7 is adjusted by means of a variable resistor VR1. Thus, since the output means of voltage is proveded in the device, the surface electrometer may be calibrated easily.
