Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain tobermolite with good cyrstallinity and superior heat resistance by turning a silicate of a restiricted Al2O3 content and lime raw material in a specified molar ratio of SiO2/CaO into a suspension in the presence of alkali and by subjecting the suspension to hydrothermal reaction with steam.
CONSTITUTION: A silicate contg. 10W40% Al2O3, e.g. kaolin and lime raw material are adjusted to the molar ratio of SiO2/CaO=0.7W1.2 and turned into a suspension in the presence of alkali such as 10W200 g/l NaOH. The suspension is then reacted with steam of 4W40 kg/cm2 at ordinary temp. W90°C. By this method a solid phase component based on aluminum-contg. tobermolite and a liquid phase component used as raw material for ettringite are obtd.
