Abstract
PURPOSE: An inexpensive flame-retardant thermoplastic polyester resin composition having improved dripping prevention in burning, comprising a thermoplastic aromatic polyester, an organic halogen compound, antimony trioxide, and zinc borate hydrate.
CONSTITUTION: A composition comprising (A) 100 parts by wt. of a thermoplastic aromatic polyester consisting of terephthalic acid or its alkyl ester and a 2W4C glycol, (B) 3W50 parts by wt. of a flame-retardant of an organic halogen compound, (C) 0.5W20 parts by wt. of a mixture of (a) antimony trioxide and (b) zinc borate hydrate at a weight ratio of (a) to (b) of 1:9W4:1 as a flame-retardant assistant, and (D) 0W60wt% based on the composition of a reinforcing filler. Preferably, the polyester has an intrinsic viscosity [η] of 0.5W1.5dl/g measured by using a solution in a 6:4 mixed solvent of phenol and tetrachloroethane at 30°C.
