Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the title polyester having excellent solubility to a vinyl monomer and anti-blocking characteristics, and useful as a binder of glass mat, by reacting a sepcific amount of an acid or an alcohol having a tricyclodecenyl group.
CONSTITUTION: The objective polyester is prepared by reacting (A) 10-70 parts by weight of an acid or an alcohol having a group of the formula, e.g. mono-(tricyclodecenyl) adipate, 5-hydroxy-3a,4,5,6,7,7a-hexahydro-4,7-methanoindene, etc., with 100 parts of an acid such as fumaric acid and an alcohol such as ethylene glycol, etc.
EFFECT: Even a polyester having high softening point has excellent solubility to a vinyl monomer such as styrene, and has improved workability.
