Abstract

PURPOSE:To dissolve the irregularity of the nitriding effect, by controlling temperatures of the salt bath for nitriding treatment to specified temperatures, in case of nitriding such high alloy steel at the stainless steel, the heat resisting steel, etc., within the nitriding salt bath containing low cyans. CONSTITUTION:Sodium cyanate or potassium cyanate is employed for the cyanate as the material of the nitriding salt bath, and the content of CNO<-1> is specified to 26-39%. Besides, the content of cyanide CN<-1> of potassium cyanide, sodium cyanide, etc., to be included in the nitriding salt bath is regulated to 0-6%. Temperatures of the salt bath for nitriding treatment is specified to 600-650 deg.C; hereby, the generation of irregularity in the nitriding effect can be prevented even in case of the high alloy steel like as the stainless steel, the heat resisting steel, etc., being coated with an inactive film.
