Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the reliability of a device for controlling the rotating speed of a welding generator by controlling an electromagnetic coil to reduce the rotating speed of an engine when the generator is at no load by a transistor switching device.
CONSTITUTION: When an engine 1 is started to rotate a generator 2, the trnasistors T2 and T1 are conducted in a transistor switching device 8 by the voltage generated at its armature coil A to allow exciting current to flow through an electromagnetic coil M to thereby reduce the rotating speed of the engine 1. When a welding rod Y of a welding load 3 is approached to a base metal X, an electric current is flown through the relay coil W of a load current detecting relay 5 to thereby open a normally open contact P to allow a transistor T3 to conduct and trnasistors T2 and T1 to be shut off so as to shut off the current of the coil M to thus cause the rotating speed of the engine 1 to be accelerated to predetermined high speed.
