Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to inspect cables of various shapes by writing the information, which corresponds to the connecting mode of the cables, in advance in an ROM.
CONSTITUTION: The information corresponding to the connecting mode of a cable 7 is written in advance in an ROM 1. Upon inspection, under the control of a control circuit 4, the output of a counter 3 is fed by a decorder 5 to a driver 6 corresponding to the connecting pin of the cable. At the same time, the block of the ROM 1 is designated by a selecting switch 2. Then, the signals of the driver 6 are transmitted through the cable 7 to a receiver 8 and further to a comparator circuit 9. On the other hand, the data read out of the ROM 1 are fed through a decoder 10 to the circuit 9 so that they are compared. Then, the circuit 9 inspects conduction, short-circuit and break of connection. In the case of a malfunction, it is displayed in a display panel 12. Thus, a cable having an asymmetic core can be easily inspected.
