Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the device smaller in size and simpler and achieve cost reduction by providing an optical member for imaging the beam from a light source on the scanned plane to at least one of the incident window and exit window of the beam. CONSTITUTION:An imaging lens 7 for scanning is provided to the exit window of a rotary polyhedral mirror 1 and is let to serve also as exit window glass. When the angle theta of deflection of the beam by the polyhedral mirror 1 is constant, the size of the lens 7 depends upon the distance on the axis of the deflecting point P of the polyhedral mirror 1 and the face 7a on the deflector side of the lens 7. Hence, in case the lens 7 is provided to the exist window of the outer barrel case, the lens 7 may be provided near the deflection point P and therefore the lens 7 is miniaturized. Thereby, the device may be made smaller in size and simpler and its production cost reduced.
