Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a power amplifier which operates as a push-pull circuit at an output stage causing no abnormal distortion at every positive and negative half cycle of an input signal when an excessive input signal is applied, by employing a simple circuit constitution making use of a transistor, etc. CONSTITUTION:The base potential of transistor 12, when applied with a small signal, becomes higher than the earth potential by the base-emitter forward voltage of emitter follower transistor 10 and signal-voltage limiting transistor 27 is in an unconductive state and never impedes stationary operation. When a negative excessive input is applied, the base potential of transistor 12 is limited to a potential higher than its emitter-collector saturated voltage through the conduction of transistor 27. As a result, prior driving transistor 20 can be driven by the output signal of output terminal 3 at the input stage, and complementary transistor constitution 24 is neither unconducted nor driven insufficiently; no matter how large or small the input signal is, complementary transistor 24 in application of a negative input signal or complementary transistor constitution 23 in application of a positive input signal conducts to prevent an abnormal sound.
