Abstract

PURPOSE: To trace the weld line composed of polygonal lines easily, by providing a weld line detector and a mechanism to array the respective torches in the weld line by correcting the positions of plural welding torches.
CONSTITUTION: A subsidiary sliding mechanism 8 equipped with a weld line detector 5 and welding torches 6, 7 is attached to a main sliding mechanism 4. The detector 5 is controlled by a servo-motor 9 so as to maintain a constant relative position with respect to the weld line. Due to rotation of a pulse motor 10, a slider 12 moves, which causes to convert the relative positions of the torch 6 and detector 5, and a slider 15 moves to convert the position of the torch 7. For instance, at position 27 in section 26 in welding direction 24, the detector 5 and torches 6, 7 are set in the position of relative dimensional difference of X4/X3=l2/l1 by the signal from a memory unit to perform welding. Thus, the plural torches are made to trace the weld line composed of continuous polygonal lines economically.
