Abstract

PURPOSE: To lengthen the lifetime of an igniter, by prescribing the position of ignition element of the igniter.
CONSTITUTION: The ignition element of the igniter 17 for igniting fuel evaporated by an evaporation element 1 is placed with a small gap over the evaporation element 1 so that parts of primary combustion flames 19, 20 produced under a flame holding plate 12 collide against the ignition element. Liquid fuel 15 is supplied to the evaporation element 1 so that the fuel is evaporated and burned by primary air supplied from primary air holes 9, 10. As a result, the primary combustion flames 19, 20 are produced. The fuel is then burned by secondary air from a secondary air hole 11, thereby producing a secondary combustion flame 21. When a pump 24 is stopped to extinguish the fire, fuel contained in the evaporation element 1 falls and is burned and the primary combustion flames 19, 20 collide against the ignition element 18 for a short time to incinerate tar or the like deposited on the element 18. The ignition element 18 is thus automatically cleaned at every fire extinguishment.
