Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent stress corrosion cracking, by providing divided chambers near an upper tube plate and causing a fluid to flow through the chambers.
CONSTITUTION: A heat exchanger comprises a shell 2, an upper and a lower fixed tube plates 3, 4, stainless steel tubes 5, an inlet and an outlet nozzles 6, 7 for a fluid, and an upper and a lower chambers 8, 9. A partition plate 11 is provided between the upper fixed tube plate 4 and the outlet nozzle 7 to divide the space between the shell 2 and the tubes into an upper and a lower parts. Two nozzles 12, 13 are attached to the shell 2 or the upper fixed tube plate 4 to conduct a fluid into and out of the upper part of the space.
