Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the gear worn state or the backlash of the gear by utilizing positive and negative going pulses generated by a tachometer generator when normal or reverse drive force is applied to a motor to count the pulses by a pulse detector and comparing the count with a standard value. CONSTITUTION:A tachometer generator 2 and a drive gear 3 are mounted at a motor 1, and a frame 5 is further mounted thereat. The drive gear is engaged in mesh with a driven gear 4. The generator 2 is connected to a pulse detector 6 having a circuit for counting the number of pulses from the generator 2 and comparing the number of the pulses thus obtained with a standard value. The backlash between the drive and driven gears 3 and 4 is measured, since the generator 2 generates positive or regative going pulses when normal or reverse drive force is applied to the motor 1, by counting the pulses from the generator 2 by the detector 6 and comparing the count with the standard value.
