Abstract

PURPOSE: To simply and continuously measure the mixing ratio between two kinds of substances of different magnetic permeabilities by making use of the principles for magnetic resistance measurement.
CONSTITUTION: A coil 4 is wound on the center portion of an iron core 2, which has its section through a center axis 10 formed into a shape of letter "E", and an oscillator 5 and a bridge amplifier 6 are connected with a detecting unit 8 which is mounted in an outer cylinder 3 of non-magnetic material. As a result, if the coil 4 is supplied with an electric current, magnetic lines of force are established, and the magnetic resistance is varied in accordance with the magnetic permeability (or the density of a substance in the mixture considered) of a test piece 7 so that the output of the amplifier 6 is varied. As a result, the change in the mixing ratio of powders or the like can be measured simply and continuously by calibrating in advance the relationships between the changes in the output of the amplifier 6 and the density of the substance in the test piece 7.
